Behavior and opinions of the residents of the Helsinki metropolitan area concerning waste management

Data contains information on the total amount of household waste generated in the Helsinki metropolitan area in 2004–2010 using the old calculation method, and on the total amount of household waste and the recycling rate for 2012–2019. The amount of household waste is reported in tonnes and kg/resident.

Household waste means consumer waste from households. Household waste does not include waste generated outside the home or its domain even though generated by the household (such as waste oils left at a service station in connection with an oil change). In addition, household waste does not include non-municipal waste from the household (such as scrap vehicles and construction and demolition waste)
